Generally my fees are £1 per minute, but if that isn't possible for you that is what this option is for.
Counselling is a place where you can talk honestly and openly, without fear of judgement.
Identifying patterns and addressing them in order to reach the goals you have for yourself.
Counselling can provide you with tools and skills to deal with life differently.
I mainly work with people 18 years or older.
I will meet with younger clients but whether we choose to continue working together is dependant on the individual situation. I also hold an Enhanced DBS.
I will always try to help people find a suitable therapist if I cannot support them.
I work face to face from my home office in Southampton.
I can work online via ZOOM or WhatsApp Video Calls. It is your preference.
I can also work on the phone.
I usually work
Monday - Friday by appointment only. Specific hours are on the contact us page. If you require a weekend appointment I may be able to accommodate this for a short period of time.
Please reach us at info@nk-counselling.co.uk or you can text or call 07359381874 if you cannot find an answer to your question.
In short, anyone.
We can all struggle regardless of our background, age, gender, race or social status. I believe counselling services should be available for all who need them.
The average amount of sessions someone has with me is 12.
The range is 1-70+ so it really depends on our relationship and what you need to work on. Some things take longer than others and that is OK.
Of course you can! Some people see me a few times per year. Others weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Communication is key here. Be open with yourself and me about how much time and energy you can give to therapy. Also, life happens and I understand that.
Person Centred Counselling is a model of counselling that supposes that a person knows what is best for themselves they just need the right environment to discover the path that is best for them.
This is done through the relationship between the counsellor and client, usually through talking.
There are 3 Core Conditions that the counsellor must hold;
1. Empathy - this is feeling with the client and trying as best you can to understand their reality.
2. Congruence - this is the counsellor being honest with themselves and the client.
3. Unconditional Positive Regard for the client - this is about the counsellor not judging the client in any way for the choices or actions they have taken.
Payment by bank transfer prior to your session is preferred. If doing a face to face session you can also pay cash.
Yes. Everything said in counselling is confidential and is not shared outside of the counselling space.
The exceptions to this are if I feel you are a genuine danger to yourself or others. If there is a safeguarding concern, where I would be legally required to disclose relevant information. This is very rare and I would always endeavour to discuss this with your first.
I also have supervision, however, my supervisor is never given any identifiable information and is more focused on me and my professional development.
1 to 1 sessions are 50 minutes.
As often as you like. Usually once per week. But there are people who prefer fortnightly, monthly or purely to have check in sessions a few times per year.
It depends on what you need.
My office hours are detailed on the contact us page and appointments are available throughout those times. There are options Monday - Friday.
Usually appointments are weekly at the same time, however, we can adopt a flexible approach if required.
No. You are in control of what you choose to speak about. There might be things you decide you need to speak about right away, others you may need to build up to and some that you don't want to talk about at all and that is absolutely fine.
It is important to be honest in sessions and to recognise that speaking about things can be difficult and may bring up emotions that feel uncomfortable.
Please rest assured that this is part of the counselling process. Processing your feeling about past and present situations enables you to heal and move forward in the way you wish to.
I work with human experiences and if you are considering counselling I would encourage you to get in touch so we can have a conversation about what you want to get out of it.
Issues I have previously worked with include, depression, anxiety, self esteem, disordered eating, grief, trauma, panic, anger and self defeating behaviours. This is not an exhaustive list.
Ethically, I cannot work with issues for which I am not trained. If at any point I feel that the work needed is beyond my frame of competency I will explain my limitations and encourage you to seek help elsewhere if needed.
Yes. I have a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, an Advance Level 4 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory and a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
I am also registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and must obey their code of ethics.
I also hold an Enhanced DBS.
If you need to cancel a session please let me know at least 24 hours in advance or you may still be charged for that session.
